Guide for Referee's

Referee's Guide to Soccer in Calgary
(as of March 1st, 2007)

To avoid confusion about how Soccer in Calgary (and specifically refereeing) is organized, i.e. which organization is responsible for what, the following is a referee's reference guide.

Alberta Soccer Association (ASA): This is the governing body for soccer in Alberta and dervices its authority from the Canadian Soccer Association. Referees in Alberta must be registered with the ASA in order to be scheduled to referee in any sanctioned game in the Province of Alberta. The ASA database of refereee contacts is a valuable resource for communicating with referees. There website is www.albertasoccer.com.

Referee Standing Committee (ASA RSC): This is the committee of ASA that handles referee affairs including education, assessments, upgrading (referee class vs the CSF rating system, see below), and scheduling referees for competitions like the AMSL and Provincials. The sub-committee for the Southern part of the Province, including Calgary includes the below referee members:

Sue Vanderwindt (Coordinator of Education) vanderwsue@telus.net

Leo Donlevy (Coordinator of Assessments) ldonlevy@ucalgary.ca

Dave Stasiak (Coordinator of Assignments) dave.stasiak@shaw.ca

Referee Affair Committee (CSF RAC): This is the committee of CSF responsible for dealing with referee issues like the referee "rating" system, local league scheduling, setting game fees, complaints or other issues about or from individual referees.

Current referee members of the commitee are:

Douglas Kipta 403.650.4722 dugi@shaw.ca
