What is Happening at the CDSRA!!!

With the commencement of work by the new CDSRA executive, and the reshuffling of the members of the executive, we have come to a crossroads in the history of the association.

Up until recently, the editor/publisher of the “Behind the Whistle” newsletter editor was Mark Flexhaug. Mark did a fantastic job of publishing and editing the newsletter for the CDSRA as long as he was the principal editor/publisher. The time commitment that went into the newsletter was extremely valuable to the Calgary District Soccer Referees Association.

With Mark having moved back to British Columbia this spring, we needed to find a new editor/publisher for “Behind the Whistle”. Since Mark’s departure, we as the executive committee of the CDSRA have agreed to change the format of how information is presented to members. Instead of publishing a newsletter on a monthly basis for all of the members to read, we have decided to create a section on the CDSRA website that will be constantly updated with information that would have normally been found on the website.

The ideas and rationale behind this decision are numerous. We will be able to create more traffic on our website if members and non-members alike are encouraged to read the content on our website. As of now, it is estimated that we get about 2000 or so hits to the website per month. More traffic on the website will help us communicate as much information as possible to the membership, and other readers.

Other reasons for this change include the fact that we will have the ability to update the content more frequently. The website should be constantly updated with new articles, information, and updates about upcoming events.

Another reason for the change is that this format will allow us to have more input from the membership as to the content that will eventually go on the website. Each member has a voice, and if they would like to have something published on the website, then all it would require is a type written copy of what you would like published on the website in a Microsoft word format. Then email it to Doug Kipta with CDSRA NEWSLETTER ITEM in the subject heading of the message that you send to Doug Kipta. It can then be added to the website, where it will be dated.

These changes will be taking effect ASAP. Look for them soon at www.cdsra.com
